  • We work in the Materials Informatics Department on material simulations at BAM and have been using openBIS since November 2024. One of the main advantages for us is that it allows us to visualize workflows instead of isolated data sets.   • We have been using openBIS since 2012 as our backbone system for managing life science data at the Quantitative Biology Center (QBiC) in T\u00fcbingen, Germany. Over the years we have scaled up from GBs to PBs using OpenBIS.   • openBIS is the central data management system in all the research projects in which I participate. This powerful and flexible tool enables us to do the following critical tasks easily:\r\n\r\n1. Keep research data backed up using geo-redundant, near-line tape systems while also keeping several copies of the data on the fast parallel storage resources that are part of the computational resources; \r\n2. Allow collaborators to upload and annotate data by themselves;\r\n3. Monitor the data produced by scientific instruments and automatically make that data available to all project members;\r\n4.
